These fishing weights are an adaptation from an old Maori design. All aspects, carving, weaving and assembling are undertaken by the skilled hands of Amie Redpath. The contrasting colour of the main weight, in this instance, Greywacke with white quartz veins are set off with the natural fibre colour of the handwoven cord. The smaller adorning baby weight is carved from Serpentine sourced from near Westport in the South Island.
This unique piece is designed to be either wall hung or laid flat as a decorative piece.
Dimensions: 140 x 80 x 30mm.
